Endorsements

NY State Senate District 27 – Vittoria Fariello

Vittoria is running to bring affordable housing, universal health care and fair government that works for everyone to our Senate district.

Vittoria has lived in the district for more than 20 years. In 2017, Vittoria was elected as a District Leader for the Democratic Party downtown. Almost immediately she took on the the backroom dealing of the county political machine. She rallied other District Leaders to her side and got rules changed that had allowed the party bosses to abuse their power.

There’s an appetite among lawmakers in Albany to do things that weren’t possible a few years ago. But we need the right person to be at the table, we need a person who’s shown up for our fights, and who is ready to work with other lawmakers to get things done.

Vittoria will be a skilled Senator.  She’s an advocate and a strong negotiator. She is not afraid to take on difficult and complicated issues.

It is for these reasons and more that DID endorses Vittoria Fariello for NY State Senate District 26.

NY Congressional District 10 - Jo Anne Simon

DID is proud and delighted to endorse Jo Anne Simon for CD-10. Club members appreciated her strong grasp of issues important to our neighborhoods, including support for 9/11 health issues, 100% affordability at 5 World Trade Center,  education, and concerns over overdevelopment and displacement. Her track record as Assembly Member for the Brooklyn part of CD-10 demonstrates she has the skills and community connection necessary to represent our communities well in Congress.

NY Congressional District 10 Forums and Candidate Submissions

DID partnered with other Downtown Democratic clubs to host a series of forums for the redistricted and now open seat, CD-10. In addition, we asked the candidates to submit their 3 - 5 most important issues facing the district and what they will do to address them.
