In New York City, home attendants--who are majority women of color--are forced to work 24-hour shifts, for only 13 hours of pay, with no time to sleep or rest. These conditions destroy their health, their relationships with their families and their lives, and endanger the patients they take care of.

Home attendants recently went on hunger strike outside City Hall, demanding City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams pass the "No More 24" Act to end this violence by splitting 24-hour workdays to two 12-hour shifts. Yet Speaker Adams, leader of the women-majority City Council, remains silent to the calls of these women of color workers.

It is unconscionable that 24-hour workdays still exist in our society, especially in New York City. Let's come together to stop this inhumanity. DID joins the Ain't I A Woman?! Campaign, calling everyone to:
