On December 10, 2022, the DID Executive Committee, recognizing the time sensitivity and importance of the appointment of a new Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, issued a letter to Governor Hochul urging the appointment one of three of the stated candidates.

Dear Governor Hochul:
We write to congratulate you on your re-election as Governor, and to share our excitement at the opportunity that the vacancy in the Chief Judge position creates for implementing your vision of a more inclusive and equitable New York.

The December letter followed a letter to Governor Hochul in August and presented to membership in September that DID Executive signed on to along with many other concerned groups.
