Open Manhattan Anchorage of Brooklyn Bridge for Community Recreation

On May 25, 2022, DID membership passed a resolution calling on the New York City Administration to open the Manhattan anchorage of the Brooklyn Bridge for recreation. The resolution was issued with the following letter:

Dear Mayor Adams, Council Members Marte and Rivera, Speaker Adams, and BP Levine,

Enclosed please find a Resolution approved by Downtown Independent Democrats General Membership on May 25, 2022:

Open the Manhattan Anchorage of the Brooklyn Bridge for Community Recreation

The general public is in strong support of reopening public space around the Brooklyn Bridge, as evidenced by resolutions passed by Community Boards 1 and 3.

DID is in full agreement, and our members want elected officials to re-open the public space beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, the Arches, the Dugout, and the Brooklyn Banks Skatepark.

Sincerely,

Richard Corman
President, Downtown Independent Democrats
