Save The Tony Dapolito Recreation Center (formerly Carmine Street Recreation Center)

On March 26, 2025, DID membership approved a resolution to save the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center.

DID supports repairing and reopening the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center (1 Clarkson Street), and opposes its demolition. Saving the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center is essential to prevent the further erosion of our shared, public goods in a city that has increasingly privileged luxury accommodations to the detriment of working New Yorkers.

DID signed on to the downtown community organizations' letter calling on funding to restore the Dapolito Center. READ THE LETTER HERE.
