Our meeting this month will be our first hybrid Zoom - In-person meeting.
We are honored to have Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer join to update us on the monumental initiatives in the Senate and Congress that are so fundamental to our Democratic values.
Also joining us as our guest will be Felicia Singh, Democratic nominee for City Council District 32 in Queens. District 32 includes Howard Beach, Ozone Park, and The Rockaways. This seat was previously held by Republican and term-limited Erich Ulrich. Felicia won the June Democratic Primary in a six-person race while getting double the number of votes that the Republican nominee received in that primary. She is a teacher and daughter of working-class immigrants. We welcome her as we build political bridges across our city.

We are grateful to Sheltering Arms Children & Family Services and their CEO, DID member Elizabeth McCarthy, for graciously hosting this hybrid event in their offices. And by holding this hybrid meeting at their office, we also hope to bring attention to this wonderful and important New York organization.
The Sheltering Arms MissionAt Sheltering Arms, our goal is to foster a society where every child and family we serve will have the opportunity to succeed and thrive. We address the effects of social inequity in the most challenged communities in New York City. Our innovative programs and compassionate services measurably enhance the education, well-being, and development of children, their families, and communities. We have maintained an unwavering commitment to our mission for nearly 200 years.
We remain energized to support our endorsed candidates, work on our judiciary, and move our resolutions forward! Please come prepared to engage, volunteer, have some fun, and help in these areas however you can.
As always, our General Membership Meetings are open to all. Come join us and bring a friend!
Participants will generally be on mute. "Raise your hand" in the Zoom app to ask questions or enter them in the Chat section. Please keep questions and comments brief. We'll do our best to recognize as many people as possible.
