DID March '25 General Membership Meeting

Please RSVP below and join us Wednesday, March 26th at 6:30pm.

Doors will open at 6:15 pm and the meeting will begin at 6:30pm. Come early to allow for time to sign in and a snack and chat before the meeting starts.

We will also be joined by Assembly Member and our endorsed candidate for City Council District 2, Harvey Epstein.

At 7:30 pm we will segway our meeting to sign on to Rep. Dan Goldman's Town Hall.

Rep Goldman will be focusing on the first nine weeks of the Trump administration and the actions he's been taking both in New York and Washington to combat Trump's lawless power grab. If you will be attending our membership meeting on Zoom you will need to have registered for the town hall ahead of time here, sign out of our meeting at 7:30 pm and join the town hall on your own. All of us in-person will join the town hall Zoom as a group.

Membership Meeting Agenda

  • Presentation from Andrew Berman, Executive Director of Village Preservation, about the proposed demolition of the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center
    • The Dapolito Center building, constructed in 1908 and modified over the years, is of architectural and historic importance and is a building contributing to the historic and cultural significance of the Greenwich Village Historic District
    • The Landmarks Law affords the building considerable protection from unsuitable alteration and demolition, including “demolition by neglect”
    • Together with the adjacent library building, the notable Keith Herring mural on the west wall, the outdoor swimming pool, and the James J. Walker Park, the block is a welcome open area serving avariety of recreational purposes in Greenwich Village
  • Membership vote on a resolution to oppose the demolition of the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center
  • DID petitioning update
  • Update from Sommer Omar regarding the closure of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital
  • Remarks from AM Harvey Epstein
  • Transition to join U.S. Representative Dan Goldman's virtual town hall

Please note that this meeting will be in-person with a Zoom option. While Zoom definitely provides some benefits, we keep up the spirit of community and the club by being together.

After you RSVP, you will receive an RSVP Confirmation email. Please read it carefully for instructions for both in-person and Zoom attendance. As always, all are welcome.

We remain energized to support our endorsed candidates, work on our judiciary, and move our resolutions forward! Please come prepared to engage, volunteer, have some fun, and help in these areas however you can.

As always, our General Membership Meetings are open to all. Come join us and bring a friend!
