DID Executive Committee Letter to End Home Attendant 24-Hour Workday

In August 2023, DID Executive Committee signed on to a multi-Democratic-Club letter to City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to support the ending of the home health attendant 24-hour workday by bringing Intro 175-2022 to a vote. The letter began:

Dear Speaker Adams,

We are writing to ask that you support an end to the 24-hour work day for home attendants and bring Intro 175-2022 to a vote as soon as possible.

Home attendant workers are essential to the well-being of our neighbors and loved ones who need in-home care around the clock. For years, home attendant workers have been required to work 24-hour shifts while only being paid for 13 of those hours....
