Please join us for a community event in support of the Women's Prison Association (WPA)!

We'll be collecting gifts and packing kits for women at WPA's housing program right here in lower Manhattan.

WPA is the US's oldest women's advocacy group, providing alternatives to incarceration and helping at-risk women avoid arrest or jail by making positive changes in their lives. Their programs with the City and State keep women out of jail by addressing the specific challenges they face, and their halfway homes save taxpayers 85% on the cost of a potential incarceration. It's a pretty stellar organization.

We're collecting new items to supply their East Village residence, and packing them as gifts for the women there on Valentine's Day. Since these are gifts to brighten the day of women who are turning the lives around, we're looking for individual necessities that will bring comfort and dignity to women turning their lives around.

Please RSVP at this Facebook Event or bring items to the January 22nd DID membership meeting. We will collect and bring them for packing on January 29.

For example folks to donate + pack the following (new items only, please):

1 - Socks and pantyhose
2 - Body lotions, gels and soaps
3 - Washcloths and loofas
4 - Body sprays and perfumes
5 - Shampoos and conditioners

If you're inspired to bring something extra, donations always help with the everyday needs of women in the residence such as:

- Advil/Aleeve
- Pads/Tampons (pads preferred)
- Paper Towels
- Toilet paper
- Tissues
- Deodorant
- Tooth brushes/paste
- Razors/shaving cream
